NEWARK — It was another down to the wire affair for Zanesville on Tuesday.
With the game tied at 57, Newark Catholic turned the ball over with 7.4 seconds left in regulation.
The visiting Blue Devils took advantage, as Mikey Johnson was fouled and made the game-winning free throws with one second on the clock in a 59-57 Licking County League crossover victory.
Rashaud Hampton had a game-high 28 points and Drew Doyle added 10 points, six rebounds and five assists for Zanesville (4-11), which posted its first three-game winning streak since 2018.
The Blue Devils were up 19-17 through one quarter and took a 29-28 lead into the half after a Hampton steal and layup in the closing seconds.
The Green Wave opened the second half on a 14-5 run before Greyson Goines stopped the run with a putback. Doyle added a pair of free throws, Hampton went coast to coast with a steal and Doyle made a 3 to tie the game at 46 going to the fourth.
Newark Catholic took a 52-50 lead, but Hampton hit a 3 to put the Blue Devils back in front. The Green Wave again took a 57-54 lead, but Hampton hit a 3 to tie it at 57 with 16.8 seconds left.
West Muskingum 62, Coshocton 32: Noah Ray collected 13 of his team-high 17 points in the first half, as the host Tornadoes (13-3, 9-1) stayed in control of the Muskingum Valley League-Small School Division.
Ray had nine points in the first quarter, as West M led 18-9 through one, and eight points between Ray and Conner Hill in the second extended the cushion to 33-12 at the half.
Gage Newsom contributed 13 points and Jack Porter chipped in 11 for West M, which led 50-24 through three quarters.
Colton Conkle collected 10 points, JJ Herman scored eight and Coby Moore had seven for the Redskins (6-8, 4-8).
New Lexington 52, Philo 36: Isaiah Stephens led three Panthers (14-3, 8-3) in double figures with 13 points and collected four rebounds, four assists and four steals in an MVL crossover win against the Electrics.
Ryan Hobbs had six of his eight points in the first quarter, including a 3, and Stephens had five as New Lex led 17-10 after one.
Lukas Ratliff had five of his 10 points in the second as the advantage was 27-19 at the half, while Stephens scored six in the third to help the Panthers extend their lead to 39-25.
Isaac Dick had six of his 10 points in the fourth to seal the win.
Dick also grabbed five boards, Ratliff added seven boards and three assists, Bentley Hanson corralled seven rebounds and Hobbs chipped in three steals for the winners, who were 22 of 54 from the field and owned a 27-22 edge on the boards with 11 offensive rebounds.
Cade Searls scored all 14 of his points after the first quarter and Demetrius Strickland added eight for Philo (4-11, 4-7). The Electrics had 14 turnovers and were held to 16-of-42 shooting.
Morgan 61, Crooksville 49: Quintin Davis and Carson Mummey hit 3s in a 19-point third quarter for the Raiders, who pulled away for an MVL-Small School win in McConnelsville.
Morgan (6-9, 5-6) led 28-24 entering the third, but five players scored in the third, as Davis had seven and Hayden Shriver a pair of baskets. The Ceramics missed four free throws in that span and managed just three field goals, as Morgan led 47-33 entering the final quarter.
Carson Mummey hit a pair of first-quarter 3-pointers and scored 14 of his game-high 19 points in the first half for the Raiders, who hit four 3-pointers and 7 of 10 free throws. Rowdy Williams scored 11 of his 15 in the second half, while Davis scored all of his markers in the third.
Konlan McIntyre tallied 15 points and Ryan Moore scored all 12 of his in the second half for Crooksville (3-13, 1-10), which hit six 3s but only 7 of 14 free throws.
Parker Addington hit four 3s among his 14 points to lead Crooksville to a 39-37 reserve win. Jace Thompson added 13 points for the Ceramics, while Tavian Myers had 11 of his 16 points in the first half for Morgan.
Tri-Valley 76, River View 41: The visiting Scotties (11-6, 9-2) rolled the Black Bears (6-11, 2-10) to stay in contention in the MVL-Big School Division.
Tri-Valley raced out to a 19-7 first-quarter advantage before taking a 36-15 lead into the half and a 57-30 cushion into the fourth.

Girls Basketball
Rosecrans 53, Miller 16: Jenna McLaughlin grabbed a school-record 26 rebounds, as the visiting Bishops improved to 11-7 with a Mid-State League Cardinal Division win.
Alaina Berry scored six of her team-high 16 points in the first quarter to help Rosecrans build an 8-1 lead, and nine points between McLaughlin and Ella Lambert, as well as a 4-of-6 showing by Emily Jenkins at the line, extended the advantage to 25-4 at the half.
Lambert collected 14 points with a pair of 3s and three steals, Berry made three 3s and Jenkins added seven points and six rebounds for the Bishops, who were 20 of 59 from the field and 8 of 13 at the line. They also owned a 53-33 edge on the boards.
McLaughlin also had five blocks, four assists and three steals and Maddie Bernett corralled nine boards for the winners.
Middle School Basketball
Sheridan eighth grade girls (13-1) defeated Morgan (2-10), 52-8. Leader for Sheridan was Hailey Mueller with 18, while for Morgan, Allia Rush had three points. In the seventh grade game, Sheridan (11-2) defeated Morgan (2-9), 42-18. Leaders for Sheridan were Brianna Moorehead and Eleanor Shegog with five points each, and Jade Rose and Maddy Schoad had seven each for Morgan.
