Pope’s visit to India soon: Cardinal Gracias in hope

Bengaluru: CBCI President and Archbishop of Mumbai, Cardinal Oswald Gracias has hinted that Pope Francis will visit India soon. The Prime Minister’s Office is in talks with the Prime Minister’s Office and the Prime Minister’s attitude is in keeping with the need of the Indian government. Cardinal Gracias made this statement at a press conference held at the Thirty-Fourth Plenary Conference of the National Patriarchate Conference held at St. John’s Medical College, Bengaluru. He also indicated that there would be an official announcement as the two countries completed the protocol process in preparation for the Pope’s visit. Cardinal Gracias, who arrived in Rome last year for the Synod, expressed his wish to visit India.

The cardinal said that Christians are a community that works for the betterment of the nation under the bishops, which are small but populous. More than six crore children and young people are educated through 504 educational institutions. There are twenty thousand hospitals in the church. In addition, there are more than half a million clergy, one million nuns, and thousands of laymen serving in various organizations for social work. The Church’s endeavor is to create a peaceful environment in cooperation with the State and other institutions. He said that Christians are called to be the lamp of the world and the salt of the earth.
