Cardinal Mario Grech, Archbishop of Gozo in Malta, was one of the thirteen new cardinals created by Pope Francis on November 28th in St. Peter’s Basilica. Rome Correspondent, Colm Flynn sat down with him to talk about his new role as a cardinal and his vision for the Church today. Cardinal Grech discusses what the moment he received the news by telephone that he had been chosen to be a cardinal was like. The cardinal also talks about how he will continue his role as the Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops, and how at the moment they are working ahead to the next synod in 2022. “In the Catholic Church, synodality means that we have to walk together but underlining both words.
