Jackson Square will be celebrating World Environment Day tomorrow (Saturday, June 5) with artwork from five Bishop’s Stortford primary schools.
Each was tasked with designing a painting or collage focusing on the topics of sustainability and nature.
The students’ work is on display in the main atrium and shoppers are being to cast their vote for the best design – with a hamper for pupils to enjoy as the prize up for grabs.
Centre manager Michael Smith said: “The event celebrates partnership with a host of local schools and brought together children of Bishop’s Stortford to help spread the important message of caring about our environment and community.
“We are delighted that so many children took part in creating these amazing pieces of artwork and hope the event inspired them to think green in the future.”
The Bishop’s Stortford schools taking part are Hillmead, Richard Whittington, St Joseph’s Catholic and Thorn Grove primaries and there is also an entry from St Andrew’s Church of England School in Much Hadham.
Michael said: “We are delighted to have welcomed all five schools to help us create our Community Wall.
“Visitors can come down to the centre to view the beautiful works of art that so many children helped to create.”
The display is part of a wider initiative called Jackson Square Cares, aiming to support the community and environment.
