An estimated 1 million people attended this year’s celebrations despite coronavirus pandemic and torrential rain which brought flooding and mudslides that destroyed many homes and killed at least 17 people in northern Pakistan.\u00a0Only the buses emblazoned with pilgrimage banners and a letter from the respective parish priest were allowed in the Catholic village.\u00a0About 2,000 police officials remained on guard for three days event that started on Sept. 10. The stalls outside\u00a0were soaked by rain.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
