Keyshaun Tillery erupted for 37 points, leading Albany Academy in a 73-62 non-league boys’ basketball win over Mekeel Christian Academy on Wednesday.
Up 29-23 at halftime, Albany Academy used a 24-16 edge in the third quarter to open up a double-digit advantage.
Zakhi Fallen scored 24 points, Will Radcliff scored 20 and Joe Roddy scored 13 to lead Mekeel Christian.
Waterford-Halfmoon sprinted to a 90-35 win over Hawthorne Valley as Gavin Bodah put up 24 points and 12 rebounds to go along with Luke Cassin’s 12 points and 10 boards. The Fordians put up 32 points in the first quarter, opening up a 22-point advantage after eight minutes.
In a Wasaren League game, Stillwater claimed a 79-43 win over Berlin/New Lebanon. Carter Wichelns scored 22 points and Jaxon Mueller scored 20 in the victory. Berlin/New Lebanon was led by 13 points from Chris Shorter.
Hoosic Valley beat Hoosick Falls 57-43 as Isaiah Eckler scored 15 points to lead four players in double figures. Hoosick Falls’ Miles Smith scored a game-high 21.
OESJ took home a 47-39 Western Athletic Conference win against Schoharie, led by 13 points apiece from Mason Snell and Colten Christensen. For Schoharie, Quin Barton scored 14 points and Dan Bernhardt added 10.
SMITH SPARKS VICTORY
Fonda-Fultonville raced to a 53-23 Western Athletic Conference girls’ basketball victory over Fort Plain. Kyla Smith led the way for Fonda-Fultonville, scoring 24 points to go along with eight rebounds. Kami Walton and Carly Atty scored six points apiece in the win. Erin Crouse topped Fort Plain with eight points in a game Fonda-Fultonville led 17-3 after one quarter.
Middleburgh recorded a 51-36 win over OESJ, with Alyssa Wayman scoring 22 points to lead the win.
Jessica Meade led three Schoharie players in double figures in a 58-37 win over Galway, while Chloe Towle added 12 points and Abby Fagnani scored 11. Hannah French scored 12 to lead Galway.
SHEN OUTGRAPPLES COLONIE
Shenendehowa collected six pins in its 44-25 Suburban Council wrestling win over Colonie. Jashon Holmes, David Ensminger, Dante Maiello, Greg Green, Ayden Robles and Vincent Grembocki picked up pins for the Plainsmen, in addition to a tech fall by Joey Losee and a decision for Nick Dimonda. For Colonie, Jaydon Aquirre-Hamlin, Will Hotaling and Emiliano Torres won by pin, Guy Jubert won by major decision and John Truesdell won by decision.
Ballston Spa beat Columbia 54-12 with pins from Ralph Keeney, Cameron Hinchliff, William O’Connor and Christopher Brothers. Mia Collins, Anthony Prasio and Dylan Wolff all won by major decision for the Scotties, with Anthony Prastio and Connor Gregory adding decision wins. Columbia’s lone win on the mat was a pin for Abubakar Abuzaid.
Shaker earned a 47-15 win over Guilderland, with pins for Ryan Stein, Ahmad Farzad, Michael Santore, Sameer Abbaszadeh, Brian Rezek and Antoio Rezek, plus a tech fall win for Donovan Deguire. For Guilderland, Dillon Blanchard won by pin, Myles White won by tech fall and Andrew Daigler scored a major decision victory.
Averill Park picked up a 57-15 victory against Schenectady, with pins from Elias Goosmann, Jacob Hanlon, Luke Hempel and Nick Tempel, as well as a decision win for Edward Marcus and five forfeits. For Schenectady, Amari Waters and Isaiah Rivera won by pin and Donovan Witko pulled out a decision victory.
Saratoga Springs swept to a 64-0 win over Niskayuna, with pins from Luke Stoutenburg, Dylan Przedwiecki, Taylor Beauty, Vita Spatafora, Gordon Murray and Sachiel Chuckrow in addition to decision wins for Kyle Griskowitz, Gianni Delgado, Lorenzo Paleschi, Patrick McKinley and Lucas Fros.
In the Foothills Council, Glens Falls beat Amsterdam 45-22. For Glens Falls, Skyler Sturdevant, Eli Johnson and Gavin Williams won by pin, Connor Wright won by decision and four forfeits rounded out the scoring. Amsterdam got a pinfall win from Camryn Frasier and a major decision win from Renso Montalvo in addition to a pair of forfeits.
SCHALMONT ROLLS TO WIN
Schalmont was a 29-3 winner over Catholic Central in a Suburban Council boys’ bowling matchup. David Squires rolled a 247-640 to lead the Sabres, who also got a 215-631 from Sean Howlan and a 221-616 from Richard Pitsas.
Columbia’s Tyler Bogholtz bowled his second 300 game of the season as part of a 688 series, but Saratoga Springs picked up a 23-9 win over Columbia in the Suburban Council. Brady Jennings topped the scoresheet for Saratoga Springs with a 258-609. For Columbia, Aidan Goodwin rolled a 248-745.
Amsterdam topped Broadalbin-Perth 4-0 in a Foothills Council match. Amsterdam was led by Matt Sawitzki’s 220-635 and Kai Brennan’s 221-608, while Broadalbin-Perth received a 246-620 from Jennah Graham and a 202-557 from Andy Simonds.
Scotia-Glenville was a 4-0 winner against Schuylerville in a match contested virtually due to a busing issue. For Scotia-Glenville, Savannah Swiatocha tallied a 217-604 and Nick Auspemyer chipped in with a 191-562. Schuylerville was led by Lucas Fitzgerald with a 180-525 and Jameson Brownell with a 189-500.
Johnstown defeated Queensbury 4-0, led by Patrick Clemence’s 234-669 and Steven Hulbert’s 278-607. Parker Baker had a 232-596 and Brittany Persutti tacked on a 224-593 for Queensbury.
Mohonasen’s 25-7 Colonial Council win over Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk was led by a 620 from Matthew Rogers. Ravena’s Konnor Kramer rolled a 702 series.
In the Western Athletic Conference, Berne-Knox-Westerlo beat Middleburgh 3-1, with Ryan Feliciano totaling a 203-578 for the winners. Middleburgh got a 211-603 from Ross Guernsey and a 182-524 from Evan Becker.
Fonda-Fultonville notched a 4-0 sweep against Canajoharie, with Ethan Auspelmyer rolling a 256-667 in addition to a 205-597 from Tomek Kowalczyk and a 248-592 from Anthony Cannizzaro. Dereck Mureness rolled a 244-696 to lead Canajoharie.
MACAPINLAC PACES MOHON
Mohonasen beat Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk in a Colonial Council girls’ bowling match, led by a 224-611 from Kianna Macapinlac and a 205-538 from Arianna Quilavan. For Ravena, Kayla Stanton’s 201-566 was the top score.
In the Suburban Council, Kiara Beehm’s 563 series led Schenectady’s 22-10 win over Bethlehem. Also for Schenectady, Shane’ Terry posted a 513 and Kaylee Beehm bowled a 505. Bethlehem was led by Amanda Burek’s 266-676 and Madi Robbins’ 633.
Averill Park beat Saratoga Springs 31-1 behind Saeryn Sawyer’s 206-586 and a 215-568 from Laney Brown. Madelyn Redick’s 379 was Saratoga Springs’ top series.
Columbia defeated Ballston Spa 27-5, led by Cierra Gabriel’s 236-653 and Jen Doty’s 195-553. For Ballston Spa, Taylor Russell posted a 256-641 and Kennedy Barker logged a 217-624.
In Western Athletic Conference action, Middleburgh was victorious against Berne-Knox Westerlo by a 4-0 score. Jaidyn Rose’s 248-687 and Cameryn Shultes’ 208-612 led Middleburgh, while Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s scorecard was led by a 210-555 from Katie Moresma.
