The latest Hawkeye trailer shows how excited Kate Bishop is to work with an Avenger and how much work goes into saving the holidays.

Marvel Studios’ final Disney Plus series for the year will be Hawkeye and the show is pulling out all the stops to provide fans with Christmas spirit. Now, a new trailer for Hawkeye shows just how hard it is for Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop and Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton to save the holidays.

Included by Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye comic book run, the Disney Plus series will find Barton and Bishop crossing paths in New York City just as the archer preparing to spend the holidays with his family. As the first Hawkeye trailer showed, Barton’s plan to make it home for the holidays is foiled by enemies from his past, and he’s going to need Bishop’s help to defeat them.

Opening with a musical rendition of “Deck the Halls,” the new Hawkeye trailer begins with Kate Bishop enthusiastically informing an unknown person that she’s working with an Avenger. What follows is a series of action shots that demonstrate how the partnership is far from a well-oiled machine, as Bishop’s attempt to rescue a captured Barton ends with the both of them surrounded by armed goons. Nonetheless, Barton’s determination to “fix” his problem and fulfill his promise to make it home in time for Christmas proves to be enough motivation for him and Bishop to step up their game, fighting off enemies and using trick arrows to get the upper hand. “We’re saving the holidays,” Bishop says to Lucky the Pizza Dog.

The exact nature of the threat in Hawkeye isn’t exactly known, but official descriptions of the show indicate it will be tied to Barton’s time as the merciless vigilante Ronin, an identity he assumed after he was stricken with grief over losing his entire family to Thanos’ decimation in Avengers: Infinity War. During the time between Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Barton appeared to have no qualms about killing the criminals who crossed his path. While it appears Barton’s past will catch up to him in Hawkeye, unconfirmed rumors have fans suspecting Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin from Daredevil may be the larger threat lurking behind the shadows.

The series is also expected to mark the passing of the torch between Clint Barton and Kate Bishop, with later potentially taking up the Hawkeye mantle as she did in the comics. Such a storyline would add fuel to the theory that Marvel Studios is setting the stage for a Young Avengers project, with Bishop being only the most recent character from the superhero team to make their MCU debut.

Whatever the future holds, at this point, Marvel Studios hasn’t really embraced the Christmas season in any past projects. So, if nothing else, Hawkeye seems to be the perfect way for Marvel fans to kick off the holiday season next month.

Hawkeye premieres on November 24, 2021, on Disney Plus.
