Is it true you can get the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter finish without shelling out close to $60 According to many beauty influencers on TikTok, the e.l.f. Cosmetics Halo Glow Liquid Filter is a near-perfect dupe — and it’s under $20.
In this video from Canadian creator Glamzilla, she says that Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter and e.l.f. Cosmetics’ Halo Glow Liquid Filter “are definitely identical.”
I decided to review the two products myself and see which complexion booster gives off the ultimate glow.
Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter was inspired by social media filters — and also claims to smooth and visibly brighten skin. It’s infused with airbrush polymers for a poreless-looking finish, finely milled powders to blur fine lines, and Porcelain Flower Extract — derived from a Thai flower essence — to instantly brighten the skin. The result is a glow-boosting product with built-in skin benefits to improve the look of skin each time you wear it.

Comparatively, e.l.f. cosmetics’s instantly viral Halo Glow Liquid Filter is infused with squalane and hyaluronic acid to help smooth and brighten the skin for a radiant soft-focus look.

Comparing the two
Comparing both products side by side, the formula looks very similar. Another important note is size — while the e.l.f. Cosmetics bottle looks larger, they both hold about the same amount of liquid — the e.l.f. Cosmetics formula comes out slightly on top, holding an extra 1.5 mL.
Up first, I applied Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter all over my face with the application brush, and blended it in with a makeup brush before doing some more blending with a beauty blender. The product definitely lived up to its promise of smoothing and visibly brightening my skin. My skin also felt very moisturized and I almost felt like I didn’t need to add any highlight because this gave me such a nice glow.
Next up, I applied e.l.f. Cosmetics’s Halo Glow Liquid Filter to compare. After opening the e.l.f. bottle, I immediately fell in love with the applicator. It’s much larger than the Charlotte Tilbury brush and felt like you could control the amount of product that comes out of the bottle, making it easier to apply.
The Halo Glow Liquid Filter felt like it gave a bit more of a dewy look and provided a soft-focus. I also noticed a major difference with my under eye area when wearing e.l.f. Cosmetics’s product because it seemed to provide a more smoothing and blurring effect in that area, at least for my skin type.
One thing I did notice with the Halo Glow Liquid Filter is that you need to wait a few minutes for it to set before applying mascara on your bottom lashes — otherwise the mascara will transfer to your under eye area and require some cleanup.
Verdict
These two products are definitely similar and share some of the same qualities such as blurring, moisturizing and adding a nice glow to your face. It is worth noting that during this review I used these products without mixing with foundation or concealer, which can be done with both.
I would use Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter if I wear going to an event or out for the night with friends because I feel like it revives my complexation and would look great in any setting. For an everyday look I would use e.l.f. Cosmetics’s Halo Glow Liquid Filter because it gives more of an effortless look and I could wear this without concealer because it helps smooth the skin under my eyes.
While both products deliver a similar result, some Sephora shoppers do say that Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter is a great option for “hiding acne scars and blurring out the skin without foundation.”
