A Bishop’s Stortford care home has hosted a car park concert for its residents.
Staff at Premier Court Bupa Care Home treated residents and their families to a socially distanced performance by the Bel Canto Sopranos with renditions of ballads from the past, as well as covers of recent songs.
Activity coordinator Jane Holly suggested the event and manager Andrew Stoner said: “We’ve recently been hosting virtual concerts for our residents, but now we’re allowed to host and enjoy entertainment again we decided to set up the car park concert – all in line with government guidelines of course to ensure the safety of all who attended.
“Our residents love music and the Bel Canto Sopranos covered a mixture of older classics, with a few more recent hits from all genres, which allowed everyone to join in the fun and sing along. We wanted to create a concert to allow residents and their families to celebrate the road out of lockdown, and we’re pleased that we were able to facilitate such a grand occasion.”
Resident, Jimmy Myhill, 96, who celebrated his birthday on Sunday (June 5) added: “What a stroke of luck to have the concert fall on the same day as my birthday. It was a brilliant event for all involved and I’m so pleased I was able to share it with my family and friends at the home. The staff at Premier Court pulled out all the stops to make this an event for all the residents and their families to remember.”
